The Harris County Department of Education's initiatives were highlighted in KPRC 2 Houston's list of resources and opportunities to start the new year. Affordable career and educational development opportunities were highlighted for residents who are hoping to make new changes in the future. HCDE is instrumental in offering adult education programs and free educational services.
HCDE staff and board members, including Eric Dick, have made additional strides in overseeing these efforts, which continue to be instrumental to the community.
HCDE Partnership With TWC
The Workforce Commission aids in assisting persons in securing employment, maintaining employment, or obtaining improved employment opportunities. The Harris County Department of Education and TWC are dedicated to fostering a learning and working environment that upholds personal integrity, civility, and mutual respect, devoid of discrimination and harassment based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
The KPRC article also highlights Harris County's youngest learners and their families. Single moms were featured in the articles as recipients of refurbished vehicles. This annual ceremony also garnered attention from FOX26 Houston and the Baytown Sun. Basic literacy, GED preparation, and English as a Second Language courses were also included. The Department was listed as one of more than a dozen resources that Harris County residents can use.
