Eric Dick Continued Holiday Cheer With HCDE and Irvington Employees
As a board member of the Harris County Department of Education, Eric Dick has been a part of facilitating efforts to not only make tangible changes in the community but spread holiday cheer over the winter break.
The second Christmas party was the continuation of the holiday mood and celebrations that the HCDE had been putting on before. When workers entered the Irvington Conference Center, they were greeted by a magically altered environment that was brimming with happiness and pulsating with holiday music.
Irvington employees were given a dinner from The Burrito District as a token of appreciation. There were other seasonal elements throughout the space, such as tables that were arranged to look like enormous presents and a step-and-repeat that was themed around the holiday season and had a variety of decorations and placards for photo opportunities. In addition to the abundance of desserts and delicious snacks, there was also a station where hot chocolate could be made, complete with sprinkles, marshmallows, and a selection of flavors to make the ideal cup of hot chocolate.
Reflection on Department's Achievements
Before taking the microphone to address the full group, Superintendent James Colbert Jr. made sure to meet with staff and take the time to have a conversation with them. He congratulated #TeamHCDE on their hard work and devotion, and he reflected on the Department's achievements over the course of the previous year in terms of the impact it has had on families in Harris County through the provision of services and programs.
At the end of his speech, Colbert urged his staff members to take some time off during the winter break in order to rejuvenate themselves and take advantage of the wonderful chances that the new year will offer.
