Houston Flooding Continues, More Storms to Come in June

The greater Houston area is currently battling the rising waters of flooded rivers and basins, overflowing due to torrential rainstorms that have bombarded the region in recent days. Brazoria County is reportedly one of the areas hit the worst by the rainfall and flooding, and evacuations will continue throughout the weeks. Much of the land between State Highway 35 and the Brazos River is expected to be inundated soon, if it is not already. Please refer to local radio stations, television broadcasts, and social media updates to check for evacuations in your area. A recent update has named Bailey’s Prairie as a mandatory evacuation zone, as well as Angleton.

Recent weather forecasts do not look hopeful for Houston, either. Intense rainfall is expected to begin again towards the end of the week, escalating in strength over the weekend. Additional evacuation zones are likely to be added as floodwaters advance further north, towards the heart of Houston.
