I'd leave fewer stars if I could. In my new automobile, with my children and pregnant wife, I was rear-ended by a man insured by Zurich. The vehicle is not drivable. And, because it's so new (2022) and Covid's wackiness, the parts won't arrive for several months. When Zurich learned of this, they chose not to pay for our rental anymore. As a result, I do not own a vehicle. And they don't seem to mind. They discovered what they believed to be an exit and took it. As a result, we need to seek rides to physical treatment to avoid being rear-ended. And they don't seem to mind. It's all about the money, people. Beware. The worst reaction time I've ever experienced. No one ever phoned back, and within a month, the case had been shuffled around to three different adjusters, and I found out only by calling a local office. It's sad what businesses do to people. According to their website, "Our staff remain determined to safeguard you, inspire confidence, and help you attain your full potential in fast-changing circumstances." They are just concerned with protecting themselves, and the only thing they aim for is your wallet.

Consumer Complaint:

It's been a nightmare trying to resolve a claim with this company. Everyone has a different answer for you. They talk from both sides of their lips because the left-hand does not communicate with the right hand. They give contradictory responses, telling you one thing and then denying it. I've dealt with service representatives who are aggressive and unpleasant, and they should not be working with customers. After approving my claim and assigning a claim number, they informed me that my insurance had been canceledcanceled two weeks before the contract's expiration date. After a while, I gave up and accepted the expense of my claim. They were victorious! They did exactly what they intended: they took your money and fled. That's exactly what you should do: RUN! I've never written a review before, favorable or negative, but I've never been so angry! This business cannot possibly have a BBB rating of A+. How have they managed to be in business for 108 years with poor service? How to be dishonest and deliver it with an unpleasant tone must be chapter one in their instruction manual. They're ***. Straightforward.

Consumer Complaint:

If at all possible, avoid Zurich since it is deceptive and fraudulent. We had a *************** Contract claim that was *************** clear, and they refused it. A water pump failed on a vehicle with an 11K contract. Even though "water pump and housing" are listed as part of the powertrain by the car manufacturer, Zurich's response was, "we have powertrain coverage... but the water pump is not part of the powertrain coverage... what???" EVEN WORSE, the fact that "water pump" is a covered part is stated in black-and-white in our contract with Zurich under our Preferred coverage, which we paid for!!! Yes, you read it correctly - I meant it when I stated ******* clear! - and they still denied it. When I originally phoned Zurich, the representative informed me, "This is an easy one." Then it became a ping pong match between FCA (Dodge) and Zurich, with me being completely denied on what should have been an "easy one." Why do they have the ability to accomplish this, and why do they do it? They're calling my bluff that I won't *** for such a 'low cost' incident because they know the odds of me obtaining a lawyer - the time, expense, and effort - for a $568 repair are slim. Consider the people who s**** like this daily. There's a particular place in H*** for these folks and the Kansas amateur claims adjuster with "20 years of experience" who decided to approach me like he was a big deal, to have me help him understand he wasn't. He'll no sure have a seat waiting for him. If possible, avoid them; there's a reason they have a 2.4 out of 5 ratings! If you are purchasing a car and want to extend the (warranty) coverage, ask first what company they use for their vehicle service contracts, and if it is only Zurich, strongly consider a different dealership if at all possible, or proceed without the contract, as the money you spend on the contract will be a nice fat bonus for them and will do nothing for you. We recently relocated to the ***** The internet installer drilled a hole in the ceiling by accident. Zurich is in charge of the claim. Perhaps their **** ***** was having a bad day, or perhaps he feels it's acceptable to be impatient, contemptuous, and disdainful. I wondered if the fact that I was female made it easier for him to speak to me in a harsh manner. Would he have been less obnoxious if I had a male name and a deep voice? I hope his management team could hear how harshly he represented their firm if it was a recorded call.

We purchased a 2014 Sorento that was still under factory warranty in October 2016. We paid about $2500 for an extended warranty and $900 for gap insurance through Zurich after the dealership added the pre-owned certification. We had a gap through USAA already, but the ************ bragged about how fantastic they were, and we like to be protected, so we purchased it! We called the dealership and Zurich numerous times about a few issues we discovered, EVEN BEFORE the vehicle was no longer under factory warranty! Fast forward two years, when the engine on our trip seized up, leaving us stranded! Even though we had a warranty, we struggled with *** to get this handled, and Zurich never returned our call. We later learned of a massive engine recall and ignored it because the cost was minimal. I noticed the paint peeling less than three months after purchasing the car and was advised to purchase a dealer paint pen. That was a complete disaster!! A well-kept automobile appears to have been chipped away at by a kid with rocks! The technician even mentioned that owing to the paint condition. He couldn't complete our complimentary car wash with our oil change. This visit took place in May 2017, only seven months after purchasing the vehicle. We attempted to contact Zurich four separate times to see how/if we could cancel the gap and warranty but received no response. These difficulties were resolved out of pocket for the most part, but a few remained. Of course, our guarantee has expired, but Zurich has not given it to us. Throughout all of this... There hasn't been a single call returned! This company was paid $3150 for nothing. Beware!!

Consumer Complaint:

On March 16, 2021, I purchased a new ***** CX-30 with Zurich Shield. When the car was returned for ***** mile servicing, I saw many faded areas on the front passenger-side door. The Zurich Shield had been punctured, tarnished, and ruined the paint. The Zurich Shield's hazy discoloration took the worst of the impact. Repairing it should be simple and inexpensive, and the Zurich Shield warranty should cover it. I submitted a claim online and received no response from Zurich. The claim was officially closed. When I phoned, I was told that the damage mostly to the Zurich finish would not be covered. I sought a review and supplied further information. Zurich has not responded. Zurich did not give away to challenge the denial, and the claim was not reopened. Zurich is largely a financial services firm. I should not have bought their merchandise in the first place. The ***** dealer has offered to fund the repair because of the situation with Zurich.

On a 2011 Regal CXL, I purchased a $2000 service contract and was advised that the policy did not cover the ****.

However, the part was not specified in the policy's "What Is Not Covered" section.

It wasn't in the "Covered" section of the ********, which we didn't get at the time of purchase, I was told.

This is the worst company to work with; their insurance hit my car, and I've had the most difficulty communicating with them; they stopped paying for a rental before my vehicle was even ready! Use a lawyer if you have to deal with them. I should have gotten one when it took their agent ***** ***** a while merely to start my claim. Also, management is a sham; they never communicate with you. If I could go back in time, I'm sure this process would have been much more efficient and professional!

I'm dealing with Zurich as part of a personal injury claim. Their customer ran a red light at an intersection and slammed into my 7-year-old daughter and me, causing my brand-new vehicle to be totaled. I finished treatment and am now looking for the next steps to take. I've contacted claim experts multiple times (by phone and email) in the last week, and she hasn't even answered to acknowledge my existence. I attempted to contact the claim specialist department but was unsuccessful. I guess I'll have to get an attorney since I'm beyond ****."

I work as a trauma specialist in the mental health field. I was asked to evaluate a patient for treatment. This patient had been in a terrible workplace accident and was experiencing trauma symptoms. I had scheduled a meeting with him and had intended to administer treatment. The start of February 2021 was the date of service. Since then, I've faxed, mailed, and called multiple times in an attempt to get compensated. Following each interaction, a form or additional information was asked, and they would say, "This is all you need; give it two weeks." Then they told me that I was approved for payment in March but have yet to receive it. They've now informed me that they require a new form. If it isn't one thing, it is another, and as a result, this traumatized individual who is unable to return to work is not receiving the help he requires. This is over a $225.00 claim that they have yet to pay—needless, disrespectful, and tragic for the patients who want medical attention but cannot receive it.

There is a linguistic barrier when speaking on behalf of my father, and I have found myself having to speak for him. My father's company has transferred the matter to Zurich as a third party, and it has been a battle to get him the proper aid and attention from the start. He had a job injury, which was denied, which is great, but this happened in the middle of January. Since then, there has been very little communication from Zurich, much alone my father's employer directing him or supplying the necessary papers in a timely and accurate manner. We applied for his disability with the state, and the EDD was given the case number because there was A CASE FOR WORKERS COMPENSATION. The Edd must then have requested the necessary documentation from Zurich, which they never received, and THEN With the EDD, the case was likewise DENIED. Fast forward to 03/10/2021, 15 days later, and we would never have discovered that the agent forgot to fill out the form that the STATE sent out back in FEBRUARY 23,2021 if it wasn't for continual monitoring of the EDD CASE and its Notification Center. (GIVEN THAT THEY REQUESTED INFORMATION ABOUT THE CASE, BUT IT WAS NEVER GIVEN TO THEM) My father's case with the EDD may have been resolved, and he could have received benefits if it hadn't been for this. He's the home man; he's not looking for work, and he's not a freeloader. He's only asking for a right he already has, and even then, he's faced setback after setback because he won't be taken seriously, even after back surgery last Thursday. Now we have to start again because this "agent" tossed a vital state notice into a desk pile. Aside from the weak work ethic, there is also a lack of basic treatment for people who do not understand English.

Since they did not, I contacted to file a claim on behalf of ***** ***** ********** ***** in Olympia, WA. I spoke with Mark D**** (Seattle, WA office) and told him my account of what transpired and the name and contact information for the driver. I told him I had a witness and was waiting for her to submit a statement to my insurance company (Progressive). He stated that he would require it once it was completed. I also emailed him a copy of the police report stating that their insured motorist caused the accident. The police report confirms this. My claim adjuster received a statement from my witness (who I did not know). This is how I met her. On February 4, 2021, an accident occurred. I posted on ******* Talks and the ******* Community Page the next Friday, to check if anyone had seen the accident. (A friend who is a police officer in town advised me to do this.) Someone stated that they had done so. In a private message, we exchanged numbers, and she told me what she had seen. My claims adjudicator received the statement from her, and today, February 23, 2021, my claims adjuster called and spoke with Mark. Mark dismissed the claim and told my claims adjuster that having a witness appeared fishy. Therefore, he wouldn't consider it, and my claim is still being denied. He also claimed that I had not informed my claims adjuster about my witness, which I had. So, this is how the insurance company operates? When there is a witness, not taking adequate information and dismissing claims. You can bet I'll be opposing this. He told my adjuster that having a witness appeared suspicious. He took her information and told her he wouldn't need it and wouldn't be speaking with her. He is not going to change his mind. This is utterly revolting.

There are no stars! On September 17, I was injured at the New York Air Brake. During a Pandemic, I did not receive a penny from this company! A caseworker passed me by, and the one who was supposed to be working on my case was working on another woman's case! Denied me money to live, yet paid for my medical and service to transport me to appointments! I'm not sure if it's because of the ****** firm I work for or because of Zurich!

Consumer Complaint:

My family was 500 kilometers from home when they broke down. I called Zurich because I was under warranty. It was a full-fledged merry-go-round. I ended up trapped in a parking garage. According to the first Zurich representative, only turn in receipts for the trip that was cut short. Okay, so I sent an email three times before being told it had been received. So, on January 11, my truck was hauled to a dealership. According to the dealership, my automobile won't be looked at until January 13. I'll have to locate a place to stay at that point. Because the dealership told me they wouldn't be able to get the truck, I booked a three-night stay. On 14th, they replace the transmission. I grab the truck, but I won't be able to drive it home until the 15th. Zurich has now informed me that they will only cover one night. I paid for five nights in total????? With this foolish firm, a two-day excursion becomes a five-day misery.

The only automobile available at ******** is $99, but Zurich only covers $40???? So it's either I pay or don't drive. It was not an easy task. Customer service is atrocious. I called three times to speak with a manager, and each time the representative said, "Well, take it or leave it," and hung up. Another representative claims that we must take a phone number and that you will be contacted. I've been waiting for a call for two weeks?? When they took my check for the warranty payment, they were all smiling and kind. This business exclusively offers these in the hopes that no one will ever use them—what a ruse. I was told I had a daily restriction of $150 by one of the reps. He said, " Oh well, you didn't qualify when I informed him I read the contract and it was $250. I've been waiting for about a month to be fully compensated. Don't buy automobile warranties; they're a rip-off!!!!!!

Consumer Complaint:

After informing me that a licensed dealer would cover my automobile in Puerto Rico, this firm refused to pay when I took the car in for repairs. After contacting them, I was contacted by a Claim Suggestor and Claim Supervisor, who both told me I wasn't insured because I didn't live in or be a part of the United States. The Claim Supervisor implied that Puerto Rico was "Property" and that the contract I signed didn't cover me. After acquiring a copy of the contract, I discovered that Section N of the contract expressly states that it does not cover "Mechanical breakdowns that occur and repairs conducted outside of the United States of America or Canada." It makes no mention of barring Puerto Rico or any other territory. Puerto Rico became a US territory and residents via the Jones-Shafroth Act, not a "Property" or "Part of the United States" as the uninformed and rude claim Suggestor and Claim Supervisor claimed.

Consumer Complaint:

Zurich's claims department is a complete disaster. In October 2020, my wife was involved in a severe car accident due to a company that utilizes Zurich as its insurance provider irresponsibly. It's been three months of relentless harassment from their customer service representatives to get things settled in the form of money for the totaled vehicle. No one answers the phone or responds to emails. And it's yet another full-time job merely to receive a response from someone. Due to limited staffing due to covid from our finance firm, one of the managers left a VM to my wife stating, "Unfortunately, you are in a rock in a hard place with regards to payment for our vehicle because they requested precise payment that could have been supplied as a verbal agreement." This is an awful reaction and poor customer service on so many levels. Working in the customer service sector, I would never advise a client or customer that they would be fired without question if they said something like that. As we recently discovered, the real kicker was that the payoff check was mailed by regular mail with no tracking. Naturally, the check was misplaced in the mail over the holidays. Now I'm fighting to get a check overnighted so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Not to mention unfair to my pregnant wife, who shouldn't have to worry about whether or not things will be addressed in time for the birth of our child. You'd think that once the corporation accepted guilt at the accident site, its insurance company would not drag its feet and make the procedure as straightforward as possible. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and we are still waiting for a response regarding the overnighting of a check promised last week.
